Summary

This study will identify factors associated with the late diagnosis of breast cancer in hospital settings in Cotonou, Benin. It will be conducted in two major university hospitals, the research focuses on various departments including Visceral Surgery, Gynecology-Obstetrics, and Internal Medicine. Despite advancements in diagnostic methods improving breast cancer management in developed countries, sub-Saharan Africa, including Benin, still reports a high percentage of cases diagnosed at advanced stages. The research will resort to a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical design to assess sociodemographic, clinical, paraclinical, and socio-cultural factors influencing late diagnosis. Data collection involves interviews and medical record reviews, with analysis planned using R software. This study aims to contribute significantly to the understanding and improvement of breast cancer management and outcomes in Benin.
