Summary
This work proposes to provide an open-source implementation of a bio-inspired custom silicon design introduced in ISCAS 2023 for ultra-low power image enhancement tasks, targeting potential specialized applications such as bionic eye implants to restore vision. The background, objective, and operation of the test chip are briefly introduced. In addition, the urgent need for ETICA, a revolutionary research platform, is highlighted by providing an overview of the deficiency of the current research system in a typical degree-granting university setting.
